Giraffes in My Closet sales add up to $2,000 gift for pediatric cardiac program
Corpus Christi – June 24, 2020 – For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Inc. – a Corpus Christi based children’s book publishing company – has made the first installment on its mission to donate book sale proceeds to benefit children struggling with long-term health issues.
“By donating $2,000 from our initial book sales from our first title – Giraffes in My Closet – to the pediatric cardiac program at Driscoll Children’s Hospital,” explains Debra Young Hatch, For Kids’ Sake publisher/author, “we have taken our first giant step toward fulfilling our mission.
“That mission,” continues Hatch, “is that each book published is dedicated to a child who is living with a long-term health struggle. What that means is part of the proceeds from the sale of each book go to a hospital or an organization that helps other children with similar ongoing health issues. In this case, Giraffes in My Closet is dedicated to 7-year-old Heath Naumann who has had multiple heart surgeries in his young life.”
But the donation itself, according to Hatch, is not just from For Kids’ Sake, it has actually been given by a whole community of people throughout South Texas and well beyond.
“Hundreds of people have contributed to For Kids’ Sake being able to make this donation to the cardiac program at Driscoll. Everyone who purchased a book is an integral part of this gift. So that means they are all part of helping children who are struggling with long-term heart issues who are seeking healing at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and we are most grateful.”
Hatch adds: “For Kids’ Sake Publishing has been a dream that’s been a long-time coming. The giraffes have brought that dream to life, and now through so many people’s efforts and generosity – and the sale of one-book-at-a-time – we have been able to make the first installment in turning that dream into a reality.”
In addition to publishing children’s books and donating funds, For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Inc. is dedicated to sharing children’s stories in an effort to create conversations and awareness of children’s health issues.
