Navy Army Community Credit Union teams up with For Kids’ Sake Publishing, donates books to all CCISD elementary schools and Nueces County libraries

Corpus Christi – November 2, 2021 – For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Inc. – a locally-based children’s book publishing company – and Navy Army Community Credit Union hope to inspire young readers in Corpus Christi and Nueces County with a newly established program dubbed: Banking on Books for Kid’s Sake.

The program, designed to ensure each CCISD elementary school and all Nueces County libraries have a first edition copy of Giraffes in My Closet available for kids in our community is the first collaborative installment for the two entities, and they consider it just the beginning.

“We know how challenging it has been for kids and families in our community the past couple of years,” explains Ashley Smith, chief marketing officer for Navy Army Community Credit Union.   “And we were looking for a way to give to the kids in a meaningful way that would inspire, teach and set kids on a path of loving to read.  So when For Kids’ Sake publisher, Debra Hatch, approached us, it seemed like just the right fit.

“We have now been able to place For Kids’ Sake’s first title – Giraffes in My Closet – in all the CCISD elementary schools and multiple copies in all the Nueces County libraries.  And we have plans in the works for placing additional books for kids throughout the community and the county.”

In addition to the purchase and donation of the books to elementary schools and libraries by Navy Army, a portion of the proceeds of each book will go to support children on their heart journeys at Driscoll Children’s Hospital Heart Center –– an integral part of the For Kids’ Sake Publishing mission.

“Our mission, at For Kids’ Sake, says Hatch, “is that each book published is dedicated to a child who is living with a long-term health struggle. What that means is part of the proceeds from the sale of each book go to a hospital or an organization that helps other children with similar ongoing heath issues.  In this case, Giraffes in My Closet is dedicated to 7-year-old Heath Naumann who has had multiple heart surgeries in his young life.

“We are so grateful to Navy Army Community Credit Union,” explains Hatch, “as the impact of giving a child a book and inspiring in them the love of reading is without measure; it is one of the greatest gifts a child can receive in life.  With their generous support of Banking on Books for Kids’ Sake, Navy Army is helping make that magic happen for kids throughout Corpus Christi and Nueces County.”

In addition to publishing children’s books and donating funds, For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Inc. is dedicated to sharing children’s stories in an effort to create conversations and awareness of children’s health issues.
