A portion of each book sale to benefit cardiac program at Driscoll Children’s Hospital
Corpus Christi – November 6, 2019 – For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Inc. – a new Corpus Christi children’s book publishing company – is hitting the ground running with its first release this week and a new book launch and signing on Thursday, November 7.
“We have been working on For Kids’ Sake Publishing and Giraffes in My Closet for several years, and are so pleased we are launching our first book” — Giraffes in My Closet,” says author and owner of For Kids’ Sake Publishing, Debra Young Hatch.
“The concept of For Kids’ Sake Publishing,” explains Hatch, “is that each book published is dedicated to a child who is living with a long-term health struggle and part of the proceeds from the sale of each book sold go to a hospital or an organization that helps other children with similar ongoing heath issues. In this case, Giraffes in May Closet is dedicated to 6-year-old Heath Naumann who has had multiple heart surgeries in his young life, has survived and is doing extremely well.”
A portion of the proceeds from Giraffes in my Closet, according to Hatch, will go to the cardiac unit at Driscoll Children’s Hospital and part to Children’s Health Hospital in Dallas where Heath had all of his surgeries.
As far as the impetus for the publishing company and the book, Hatch says: “Coming from a journalism background, I had the opportunity to write stories about children and their families for Driscoll Children’s Hospital for 15 years, and my goal was to find a way to take that experience and those writing skills and use them to benefit kids; that was the genesis of For Kids’ Sake.”
And she adds: “For Kids’ Sake has been a dream that’s been a long-time coming and the giraffes,” smiles Hatch,”they brought that dream to life.”
The book launch and signing of Giraffes in my Closet will be at Hanley Wood in Lamar Park Shopping Center on Thursday, November 7 from 4-6 p.m.
